Current #ConfettiMOOD: Spooky!

It’s close to midnight…and something evil’s lurking in the dark!

Don’t worry, no evil here! And, we for sure won’t be scaring you with any terrifying pics of Pennywise (ICYMI, that’s the clown from Stephen King’s It)! But, we are thrilled that October is here, and that’s why our current #ConfettiMOOD is SPOOKY! We love this time of year when the trees show their fall colors and the air turns a little chilly, all while Thriller is playing in the background!

We hope our SPOOKY Confetti MOOD inspires you to put the Boo in Boogie and add some SPOOKY fun to your dance classes this month!

Spooky Set-Up

Transform your lobby or dance room into a SPOOKY spectacle! One fun way to jumpstart the decorating (and to fit in some faculty bonding time!) is to host an informal fun get together with your faculty, like we did last fall with our Fabulous Faculty Fall Fun Fest and Pumpkin Pizzazz! We supplied the pumpkins, crafting supplies and yummy breakfast while our fab faculty each decorated a pumpkin! We then transported their creations to our lobby for a fun + festive spooky display!

If you don’t have quite enough time to pull that off, you could also host a mini pumpkin decorating contest with your faculty–or even throughout your studio–with fun prizes, of course! Kick it off early so you can use the entries as decor in your studio all month long (hence the “mini” pumpkins for space purposes). Then, announce your winner on Halloween!

No space for a bazillion pumpkins in your studio, either? No problem! Host the contest on your Instagram feed instead and create a fun hashtag for participants to use when they post a picture of their spooky creation. You can create categories like SPOOKIEST, Funniest, Cutest and Most Pinteresting, and feature all the winners in a social post!

Spookily Social

Speaking of social media, we love to make a really big deal about Halloween week at our studio and even have our own hashtag we’ve used for several years: #RhythmHalloweek! You can create a fun photo backdrop wall (use halloween themed wrapping paper, scrapbook paper and decorations) and encourage dancers to take and share their costume pics with their dance besties using your own Halloween hashtag. Halloween is one of the most photographed days of the year, so make sure you have a fun area designated to make it easy for your dancers to snap and post all week long!

Spooky Costumes

Dancers love to wear their costumes to class the week leading up to Halloween. Make it a fun event, and have your teachers dress up, too! Our favorite group costume for our faculty is to dress in the theme of our year-end show! If you’ve already decided on your theme, this is the perfect costume idea! It will generate excitement about your show, and your dancers will love seeing their teachers in character!

For other costume ideas, we love getting inspiration from Studio DIY and Oh Happy Day! Even the kid costumes can spark ideas for adult costumes! Spooky Combo

If you’ve been following us for a while, you probably remember#halloweekonthedancefloor and our super fun and SPOOKY Hip Hop Halloween combo from last October! We had so much fun watching videos of your classes of all ages performing the fun combo! If you’re new or just want to watch it again, check out our post and also search the hashtag on Instagram. You can even use it for your classes during the month of October (for round two or for the first time). But, save room in your class for a new combo, because take two of #Halloweekonthedancefloor is coming your way very soon! Stay tuned!

Spooky Playlist

You simply must play fun Halloween music in class, even if it your tunes are not all SPOOKY. Like all our #ConfettiMOOD posts, we put together a SPOOKY fun Spotify Playlist you can use in your class during Halloweek! Never fear, there are plenty of non-scary options for dancers of all ages!
